The Last Hurrah!

Old-timers in the Appalachians know there are several named "winters" following winter, and Blackberry Winter is perhaps the best known.

And Blackberry Winter
has descended upon
the mountains
of east Tennessee.

Causing everyone
to wonder..
What happen to Spring?

Snuggles to keep warm!

With temps dipping to 30 degrees at night,
we fired up the wood stove
the last three nights.

I do believe last night night
was the end of
the wood stove
for the season!

Zeke, Cadence, and the snuggle sisters
can breath a sigh of relief.
Spring is here to stay!
And the blackberries are ready to do their thing!

What is like on your mountain?

Have a fab weekend!
xo,
misha

Cadence is so handsome! Do you ever pick the wild blackberies and make pies?
It's supposed to be 80 degrees here today with storms expected this weekend. No plans for the weekend other than giving Gus a bath.

Awwww, those snuggling sisters, how adorable!!! My boys never sleep like that together...
In the netherlands it's nippy too. We had some great spring weather two weeks ago, but now it's chilly, 30's at night, round 50's during the day. But 'they' say it will be spring again next week with temps over 62!! (that's warm over here...)
Have a nice weekend with lots of sunshine,
Hug, Bianca

We got lucky up here... Sure nuff--it has been cold the past three days, but we dodged a bullet and didn't have a freeze/frost.. Thank Goodness since we have so many flowers blooming or about to bloom...

Hugs,
Betsy

Currently, the weather is acting up and it's supposed to be rainy all weekend-It's definitely reaking havoc on me, but I know you know how it goes!

I'm glad things are starting to finally look like Spring for you and your menagerie :)

It's been chilly with cold cold nights this week here on our mountain. BUT, the skies are blue so not complaining. Have a fab week-end sweetie!

What great pictures!
We've gone from an early beautiful spring, back to winter, to a cool spring. Now it's nicer, but supposed to rain this weekend.
Have a great weekend!

I love hearing about what is going on in the mountains! Wish I was there! We are having cool mornings around 50 then warming to near 90 in the afternoon, too hot for N. Florida in April!

It's blackberry winter here as well and we've had hard frosts for two weeks. Several mornings it's been 20 or 22 above...brrrrr!

It was very gray over out mountain tonight. We could get snow but more likely rain, which we really need.

Same here ... blackberry winter! Now the gardening will begin. I have the tomatoes planted and had to cover them the past few nights.
Your 'babies' are so sweet and cute snuggled together!
Hugs,
Donna

Spring seems to be going well in Dublin. Even Crumlin has double-blooming cherry blossom trees in full flower. Phil Lynott would be proud. I think it's time to go to the garden center and buy some blueberry bushes to plant.

I do believe it is almost impossible for Cadence to be any more handsome than he already is but I'll take your word for it!

LYLAS!!

Warmer here today but damp...our woodstove is still going but I don't think for much longer!

Those were precious fur baby photos!! I sure hope you all don´t have to fire up the woodstove anymore. We have been firing up a few times because it gets very cold at nights still and our log home becomes raw inside...cold and raw...ugh...not pleasant. I´m awaiting the day when I know we won´t have to fire up the woodstove anymore this season :-)) Have a great Sunday my friend!!
