~Days of Cherry Jello and Tea~

Last Saturday it hit me.
Like a ton of bricks dropped on my body.
Not a Fibro Flare,
but the dreaded Flu.
The "run a temperture of 101 degrees,
shivering in bed, dizzy"
and well, you have been there, too!
So you understand!

I just kept muttering to myself on how
I couldn't believe this!
I was having a great week.
Really feeling good.
And then, Wham!
I thought I was on the upswing this past Monday.
But, no. It was just a little tease.
The Flu is like that.
Sneaky Flu!

I am hoping that today is
"my upswing" day!
So I can back to feeling like
Christopher Robin and taking my morning
walks with all the critters!

What are your "go-to's" when the Flu invades your life?
What home remedies do use?
What food always makes you feel better?
I have been feasting on cherry jello
and Constant Comment tea!

So while I eat my jello and sip my tea,
I will let you entertain me with your comments!

p.s Yes, I got a Flu shot last Fall!
Here is the CDC's take on why we still get it.
"The flu shot is meant to protect you from the most common strains of virus that can cause the flu.
The companies who make the flu shot rely on the previous year's flu cases to judge what types to include in this year's shot.
Unfortunately, it can't protect you from ALL the viruses that can cause the flu but it does seem to lessen the severity of the flu if you still get it."

So sorry to hear that you have the flu. I'm a firm believer in chicken noodle soup. It's good for what ails you. Do you think you could get J to make a batch? There is a recipe for a great one on my blog. I bet the critters are missing their morning walks with you too. Feel better soon my friend!

P.S. The smell of Vicks Mentholatum (sp) always makes me feel comforted too.

I'm sorry you are sick, Misha. I hope you feel better soon. Remember to drink lots of fluids and get lots of rest!

I am glad you are better today! The flu stinks! Just drink lots and rest :)
ps I am trying to get you some pics!

I don't get flu shots, so far so good! I hardly ever get sick, when I do, it's usually a cold or sinus problem, then I just use Dayquil and it is helpful. I take vitimins everyday and walk 4 miles. My biggest problem is eating too many sweets! I hope you will get well soon and be out bobbing around the horses! :D

Hope you feel better soon.
Thankfully I haven't had the flu for years.
Snuggle with kitties and puppies, may help a bit maybe??

Oh crud... so sorry the flu has knocked on your door and let itself in. We had flu shots and so far no bugs here. I guess we don't have any home remedies when it comes to the flu but instead just ride it out until it's had it's way with us. Get well soon!

UGH!! Jello, gatorade, ice pops, sherbert (sorbet) chicken broth, lots of magazines and bad TV. Well, the good kind if it can be found.

Feel better, Misha ~

Sorry to hear you have the flu. Hope every passing day you feel better.

Oh dear, I hope you feel better soon. I can't get flu shots because I am allergic to eggs. But I am admittedly a germ-a-phobe and use Purell a lot. I don't mind the animal germs at all, it's just the people whose hands have been who-knows-where. Cherry Jell-O is good. You can always try some Lime with pears if you get tired of it.

Sorry you feel icky. Whenever Im sick my oldest girl always tells me the same joke. "Why did the cookie go to the hospital?.....Cause he felt crumby!" Lol, hope that made you smile! Take care, and oh and my fav sick food is crackers and chicken and egg dumpling soup. Home made of course. :)

Chicken soup and ice cream help me through the flu. Which thank goodness I don't get very often.
Feel better soon and enjoy the jello.

Feel better real soon! Chicken soup, toast with jam and hot tea along with Vitamin C and aspirin are the things that help me through the rough spots when I have the Flu. I love your Winnie The Pooh pics! So cute! :0)

Aw, I do hope that you are feeling better very soon! It sure is no fun being sick. I love jello and biscuits and gravy when I am sick. That is what my mom used to feed me when I was younger and not feeling well. Sounds good right now too. I may have to "fake it" for some! Hey, whatever it takes, right?!

Very mild winter for us --and I hate it... ha

I never get a flu shot anymore and my doctor doesn't seem too worried that I refuse it. I had one once and got plerisy so badly and read later that the flu shot can cause this. Sometimes I think the flu is worse when you get it after you have had a shot than if you didn't at all.

Darn flu bug . . . sorry it found YOU!

Awwww.....I hope you are feeling better soon. I was down for 2 weeks right after Christmas.

My go to: a comfy couch and a warm blanket.

Take care of yourself.

Awww, so sorry you have the flu Misha! I'm sick too, and I also got the flu shot a few months ago for the first time ever, only because the hospital I work for made it mandatory! (which really, really pissed me off!!!) I knew it can only protect us from a few strains, the ones that the pharma firms think will be the most popular.

I had someone tell me the other day that if you rub Vicks across the sole of your foot (the ball part right below your toes) and then put sockies on and sleep on it, you'll feel better in the morning. My first introduction to Reflexology so now I am intrigued and going to look into this more (I'm always curious about anything different or alternative!!) Here's a link to how they divide up the sole of the foot in Reflexology as to what body parts it will work on www dot ashi-tubo dot com slash english slash en-index dot html. I'm sure there's lots of other info out in internet land but I haven't had time to look yet!!

*hugs* hope you are feeling better soon!!

I'm so sorry, sweetie! I drink lots of fluids, teas during the day, and hot lemonade with bourbon as night. Teehee!

I hope you get to feeling better soon!

How are you feeling? Bug gone? I think this confusing weather is causing all the bugs to be air borne and
L A N D I N G on us . . ., I hope this finds you feeling better!

Try 1/2 tsp of baking soda in a mug of room temp water every couple of hours at first and then taper off. It's supposed to adjust your body's PH to make it more alkaline, an environment in which viruses can't survive. Hope you feel better soon!

By now you're probably back on your feet! Sorry you were under the weather.
I haven't been convinced to get a flu shot yet. I may be crazy, but I'm just not sure about bombarding my immune system every year with shots. Probably dumb on my part! :0

First thing, I will have Vernor's Ginger Ale (sipped). I know it's not available in all states but it seems to be the only thing that will stay down and it keeps you from getting dehydrated. Then I will have dry toast and tea until I'm sure I can hold solids down....then I crave Campbell's Tomato soup, made with milk, not water....with dry saltines crumbled on top. I swear it makes me get well faster but it's probably all in my head. LOL If I'm stuffed up at all, Vick's vapro-rub is an absolute MUST...across the forehead, in the nose, on the neck and chest. For a naggy cough at night, put Vick's on the bottoms of both feet and go to bed. Get well soon, Misha!

Hi Misha,
I happen to come across your blog and read your latest post. I felt the very same as you..as I believe we all do in the beginning, and blogging has also become my world and I am making some incredible friends in a short six months. I absolutely love it~ :) I feel the very same way about being followed in this huge world of blogging...it is indeed humbling.
I also suffer from fibromyalgia. I do not suffer as severe of symptoms as you do probably because I do not have RA or connective tissue disease but it is extremely debilitating just the same.
My symptoms are there every day, some worse than others. I take medications every day. But I don't like the side effects and neither does my family. I recently started doing yoga thru a DVD, specifically for people with fibro, RA, etc. (the instructor has fibro. If you would like to know more about it, let me know. I am also going to start massage therapy this next week. My goal is to get off as much medication as I possibly can. Yes, in the whole scheme of things, it is a minor inconvenience. It could always be worse is what I tell myself to help me get through the day.
Again, I just wanted to stop by to say "hey".
