~The Day We Needed~

It rained.
A good *pouring down,
blowing in the windows* rain.
Starting last night.
At first it was humid and breezy.
And then sometime today,
everything changed.
The temperature dropped for the first time
in three months.
And by early this morning,
our rain gauge measured 7 inches
Tonight it shows 12!
Of course, we are now dealing with
flooded fields and closed roads.
And as usual with all the rain,
we lost power today.
We have come to expect that
living in this little mountain town.
With a power grid that has not been
updated since the late 1950's,
power outages are a way of life here.

As it rained and rained and rained,
I snapped pics of a
few members of our little family.
Rain induced naps are the best!
And taking snapshots of sleepy paws
and quiet whiskers make for
adorable images!

This little bundle of cuddles
is one of Molly's babes.
His "Forever Home"
wasn't sure he could be forever with them.

When I heard that,
the sound of brakes screeched in my head.

So the little guy stayed here.
In this "Forever Home"

And while Molly is still taking
her *mama duties*
very seriously,
everyone else has stepped in to help nurture
this little guy.

Even Zeke.
But, don't tell those big burly friends of his.
He has an image to uphold in the 'hood.

I hope if you needed rain,
it came your way today also.
And if you didn't,
a dry, sunny day was yours to behold!

And remember, don't tell a soul
what a softie Zeke is...
or that he sleeps with a one-eared stuffed rabbit.

p.s. we are still looking for the poor
rabbit's ear!

I'm glad you finally got your rain. It was hot and dry here, and I'm glad summer is finally winding down. I love the beautiful summers, but I can't stand the constant heat!

Hope you are well, friend.

It rained here yesterday all day long and it was glorious! After several weeks of drought it was music to my ears hearing the rain drops splatter. I love the pictures of Hercules and Zeke!

Glad to hear you finally got some rain. Love that pic of the dog and cats all curled up together!

Here in north Knoxville, we got about 30 straight hours of the stuff. I love it.

And, like your felines, I curled up yesterday afternoon and had myself a glorious nap while the droplets pounded the roof.

We're doing the Happy Dance...we have RAIN! Praise God! It's been raining since Sunday and hope it continues for another week. It's the nice, slow dripping rain, mostly, and, sometimes, a steady downpour. We'll take it all!

Misha, I'm collecting the 9/11 box on your sidebar but on 9/11 instead of being silent...I'm putting up the 9/11 box...I'm often silent and want to distinguish silent from a memorial post...thus putting up the box, and nothing else, on 9/11.

Hercules is adorable and seems to be loved by all your other babies. Yay for rain! We didn't get any rain but we did get the cooler temps. It's wonderful!

Misha, I'm having so much trouble commenting on blogs...not sure what the problem is...
Anyway, we have rain, thank God, and everything is looking might perky. It was so dry and dusty and the earth so terribly thirsty; my heart goes out to the people in TX.
BTW, I'm going to put the 9/11 box on my blog on 9/11...not leave that day blank as I want folks to know "why" I'm not posting that day. There are so many days I don't post and want folks to know why 9/11 is a special non-post daY.
make sense?

Hi Misha, We got alot of rain also---but no flooding up here (that I know of).. We ended up with about 5 1/2 inches I think. We needed it so badly--just like you did.

We lost electricity during the night --but it came back on quickly. So--no complaints about that...

Looks like all of your furry babies had a nice, calm day inside. I always worry about pets left outside on a cold, rainy day.

Thank you very much for the rain for Misha, J, the kids and the rest of Tennesse.

Love, love, love the sleepy kitty, doggy photos of cuddles and paws. Don't you just want to squeeze them when they are sleeping. I sometimes lay my head next to Snickers when she is cuddled and snoozin! She says, "what's with you woman . . . Leave me alone!"

I think we need at least 10-20 pet touches EACH day . . .

Same here with the rain! We needed rain but so much at one time?
The "babies" are just the cutest snuggled up with each other! Makes me smile :)

It's pouring here! We didn't need it after Irene, but as long as power stays on, I'm good!....

Love that kitty, how adorable, he and Zeke!

Oh yes!! I'm so glad everyone knows where his forever home is. : )

And if that photo with Zeke isn't the cutest thing ever, I don't know what is! Tell Zeke Auntie Andie is very proud of him. Ha!

Super cool temps here the last two days. Fall is preparing us a feast!

This is the sweetest post! I love all the sleepy babies. Hercules is a perfect name for the kitten!
I am glad you received rain! We are praying for rain in Texas!

Aww Misha these images are so adorable. That's too bad that your baby didn't move to his proposed 'forever home' but I think he's got the best home ever RIGHT where he is. Holy Cow I can't believe how much rain you received...we'd be THRILLED to get a couple of inches! As they say 'it never rains but it pours'. I hope your power is back on and everything is beautiful and green and the horses are enjoying beautiful fresh new green grass. Have a great day!
