Oops, he did it again!

Seven and a half years ago,
we brought home a chubby, sweet,
BullMastiff pup.

This adorable guy was house-broken in one day.
He never chewed up anything.
Not shoes.
Not furniture.
He learned his manners.
And how to sit, stay, shake paws~
He was a perfect little pup!

With one exception.
I had checked out a book from
 our local library.

And he shredded it to pieces!

I remember sheepishly returning it
to the library, so I could pay the cost
for it to be replaced.
The librarian laughed so hard~
I guess it was pretty funny that a
pup chewed up a book on puppy training!

We decided that he must have been
very insulted that we thought he needed training!

Truly, that is only thing Zeke ever
has destroyed!
(such proud parents we are!)

~Until, now~
A few days ago,
J got our luggage out in preparation
for our impending trip.
He put all the bags on our bed,
so I could decide
which to use.
About 10 minutes later,
as we were standing in the bedroom,
we heard a crunching noise.
Zeke was laying on the floor.
Chewing away....

But, not with one of his beloved stuffed animals.

He was chomping away on this!

We figure he must
really, really,
not want us to go away!

I just couldn't find it in my heart to be angry.
I mean, really.

Look at that face!
Pure sweetness.
Pure love.

And he gives us unconditional
And a reason to purchase a new camera....

Well, I never said he was modest.

Oh such a lovely tale! The only thing my Gertie ever chewed up was 2 $100 bills. Never had she been interested in my purse until I was getting ready to go on a little trip. Luckily she only chewed two bills and I was able to have them replaced by the US Treasury. Gertie does, however, turn over my trash can & chew up tissues when I leave her & she thinks she is supposed to go along, but that's not so bad. Merry Christmas!

LOL That is so funny! He is a dream boat and for a big dog, so sweet, plus he does have a good track record. And, a new camera will be fun! OK..I am on his side too! (Did you see what my golden Cougar did to my cell phone..previous post..looks like your camera! :D

awww - I'd say Zeke was definitely insulted by the book. I mean - he is perfect so what the heck?

The new camera will probably be better than the one he decided to chew on, but I think you're right about him not wanting you to leave him. :)

Well -- if I'd known I would have offered up my camera. I want a Nikon 3100 and mine still works!!! So funny. These animals. What would we do without them!

What a great story to start my day! We love our pup too - a 100+ lb. Lab mix named Duke. He's gotten into his share of mischief. It's all so funny (and fairly harmless) that we just can't get mad! :) I may have to write a Duke blog some day...stepped away from my blog for a bit, but am getting back to it within the week (hopefully :)). Making the much needed changes there (mostly in attitude :))!

Yep, he knows you are leaving. It amazes me how intuitive dogs are. I hope you get your new camera before you leave for your trip. I love the story about the puppy training book, I can see why the Librarian laughed so hard.

He's just trying to train you not to leave him behind! Cute guy!

I agree; he doesn't want you to go. Either that or he has a fondness for electronics. Then again, maybe he knew he'd get a post written about him out of his antics. Zeke boy does not get enough air time and I think this just rectified that situation.

Give him a big hug and a kiss from me. He's so sweet, I just want to smother him with kisses!

Hugs ~Andrea~

LOL! Well I would consider a book and a camera a success. Savanah has pick pocketed more lipsticks, lighters, candies, kleenax, ANYTHING and especially fridge magnets. I honestly do not know how that dog does not get stuck to the fridge when she walks by.

That's so funny that he chewed up a book on puppy training. Maybe he didn't want to be trained!! Great post and have a wonderful trip!! Do you have someone stay at your farm to care for the animals when you are gone?

That is funny he chewed up the book and then the camera.. I thought it was going to be the suitcase.. LOL very funny

Oh ya. Rowdy is always intrigued by the strap on my camera so I have to be careful and never leave it hanging down off the side of a table. I'd have a VERY hard time forgiving him if he destroyed my Canon Rebel.

What kind of new camera are you getting?

*still coughing*

What a hoot!!! Yes, I don't think I could get made either.

Oh, the sweetness!! I totally get what Zeke was saying. My Banjo girl says it to me every time I have to get ready to go to work. "Please mom, don't go!!" (she hasn't chewed my camera up though - yet ;)). Great pictures, and a lovely Zeke story. He is such a big sweetie!! Merry Christmas to you and yours, and please have a safe trip :) -Tammy

This made me laugh and cry in one moment . . . and they say, animals can't feel.

Loved this Misha . . . First for Zeke . . . Second, for you. Because you were able to write, express, smile with us with your words.
