kMost people plan a vacation or weekend getaway to the mountains. How lucky are we? We live in the mountains! The Cherokee National Forest is home to the The Cherohala Skyway. No matter what the season, the drive is always breath-taking.The Cherohala Skyway is designated as a National Scenic Byway and is only one of 20 such roadways in the nation. The Skyway construction took 30 years and 100 million dollars to complete it. It was completed in 1996 and connects Tellico Plains, Tn. to Robbinsville, N.C. Driving through the mountain curves we reach peaks of more than 5,390 feet! Winter, spring, summer, or fall the Skyway is home to the most beautiful scenery nature has to offer us. Autumn brings visitors from all over the U.S. and other countries to see the spectacular range of color from all the beautiful trees.
